This hit home as most of my friends repeat themselves endlessly and I get frustrated to hear the same story two days in a row. Sometimes twice in one day. You are using a lens of compassion that i will try to use. Thank you.
I have a person who does this with all my stories he's already heard. I tell myself, maybe he actually doesn't remember! But actually he just being nice AF
I needed this helpful and heart-expanding metaphor. Many people not in the grip of dementia try my patience now and then with their greatest hits. In return, they nod along with mine.
Great metaphor Tommy. In her last years, my mother got to repeating so much it was like a record needle skipping on some scratched vinyl. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the benefit of your soulful insight. It drove me crazy.
Distillation of experience
Is 'seeing in a rear-ience'
Sharing what life has taught
You with a friend who fortune
Brought you and whose artful
Meshugaas accompanied by
Garlic, greens and olio de oliva
Quatrocciocci is so tasty and
The jazz so sweet it knocks
you off your feet reminding you
You're over eighty and that things
which used to seem so weighty
are now dissolved by a good
Night's rest and by nine-thirty
you've passed the test...
Oy, Tommy. This again?
lol thank you
And … Dance to the music.
"I grow old ... I grow old ...
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled."
When repetition meets novelty new meanings happen, even love.
