A Writer’s Desk
“Feel the Rhythm" is a piggy bank to hold my pennies. Some shiny, some scuffed, some tarnished copper green from time and funk. The phrase comes from "Feel The rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up it's bobsled time". Lines from the movie Cool Runnings which I wrote thirty years ago, accidentally penetrating the culture in a way I could never have foreseen.
I originally imagined this as a theme focused series of show biz stories, my ragged and occasionally triumphant 40 years in the movie business, but discipline has never been my strong suit (survival has) and so it may turn into an old, oak writers desk, the drawers leaking scraps of mismatched prose and poems-- I maybe even read a few things out loud just for the sheer joy of it-- and since I have a good gig at the moment, I'm not going to charge.
