“Oh, my fucking God and holy Hallelujah! It feels good to be at a point in my life where the impulse to be okay is stronger than the impulse to not be.” Absolutely fucking beautiful.

Bravo, you won against the demon. Perhaps you could tell all your MDs to not offer such delights to your psyche. And may the pain not become a citizen. Send it to El Salvador.

You made me pause. I am new to Substack, am also Renee who has Left leg sciatica and Left hip pain, but we aren't friends. You are however hilarious, and I wish you the best in finding relief from pain, while continuing your journey and work to be free.

guess what.. Maybe you really have sciatica. my story and everyone has one..nothing cured me (worst pain ever) except spinal surgery. Te doctor admitted later when I was overly stunned by the results, " this operation is an easy one. Its one of the few 'home runs' in the business. He was a humble kind of dude. The MRI should clarify things.. good luck and I feel yr pain!

This is a very powerful piece about learning to live with pain - real physical pain - at least for a while because certain types of medication may cause you to go back on drugs. And how amazing it is that you actually did the hard thing instead: you sat down and wrote about it to try and ease the pain in your thigh! Did it work like you thought it might? I do seriously wonder if you're right about this pain being a way of leading you back to a higher path in life, and what you imagined the gods were trying to tell you:

"If you suffer in the chair, you won't suffer in the leg and that's why we have done what we've done."

One way or another this painful episode got you to write a really fine post, and to reaffirm your abiding commitment to staying well. No small achievements! Well done, my friend!

I’m glad you’re good enough, smart enough and that, doggone it, you like you. While your y(id) & ego still Smiley-ing, your disability’s green card status likely needs some ICE and could room with fellow inconvenience Mr Ábrego Garcia at CECOT. As for the script: DEFINITELY have it filled and lmk the pharmacy address. I’ve never been as good at addiction as you but the difference is I’m not a quitter!

I’m sorry you’re in agony sweetheart but, honestly, I think all of our bodies are insurrectionists as our keppes try to pretend we’re not living in circa ‘73 Chile. Shabbat Shalom.
