I've seen articles and poems written it the wake of Trump's victory and it seems as if the end of the world is about to come. But nobody knows that for sure, and we can't live in a future that hasn't happened, so I think this piece of solid good sense is one of the best things I've read since the election result was announced, and I don't live in the US:

"If you do your work, have a purpose, live (what to you) is an honorable life, treat people with dignity and respect, and are willing to generously offer and receive love, you are probably going to be okay no matter who the president is."

I think I could live by that.

I could live by it too, Matin. I might even try it.

I believe I can as well, Martin. I’ve been a bit, shall I say, “frumpy” for a minute, and need a bit of righteous masculine sensibility and good down home masculine sensitivity. Thanks guy’s.

I think I’ll comb my long tangled hair today, it’s beginning to “dread” giggle giggle! G

Geraldine, presidents (with a very small p) come and go, and Vance won't be hard to beat when he runs. So this is in fact a good time for the Democrats to become a real party, with real policies that will attract working-class voters. They need to dump all the celebrities and be genuinely inclusive. They should also follow Gandhi and combat hate with love and kindness - and, as Tommy says, treat all people with respect. Respect should be part of their agenda. It's all very simple: whatever Trump does, do the opposite, and their time will come. And, of course, Tommy will still be here, doing the important stuff as always!

Lovely Martin, more of what is necessary for me to hear, a man’s steady hand. “A hundred thousand thanks” G

“he steals dignity from the woke and gives it to the sleeping”

Precisely.

For my taste, I will replace “he” with “it”.

Your Idea, is medicine and balm for my mind. I’ve been baking for day’s. . .! homemade sweet treats, because being in the kitchen is my refuge and my kitchen is a place of wonder and magic, food is my business! G

The post I'm working on this week is all about the perverse attraction of the dark side, even to, or perhaps most of all to, people who hold themselves to those values you list. So this essay really resonated with me.

Kinda new, kinda wow! Tommy!

Your much-shared epicuriosity and lust for, say, nightshades is fun and appreciated. But, my boy’s “idea of political journalism” is delicious. The notes of moral clarity are the nuanced umami informing the yum factor of this new dish and have this reader wanting his FTR side of substack added to the menu (not in sharpie, reprint the damn thing) and offered as a permanent entree. Please Sir, may I have some more?

I usually wait a day to answer comments but that is so fucking good I have to just press the bar, and lick up the sucrose (and whatever mystery drug has been added for research). Moral clarity as a seasoning. Yes! I'm going to start reading my favorite thinkers to my food before I serve it. And on top of that it's always nice to hear from a distant relative.
