Wonderful! I also liked your Hamburger Hill entries but I read them on the Metro and was too far underground to let you know I enjoyed them. I would have dug seeing you in Bruce Lee mode with the squirrel!

Here’s a meta comment for you. I was listening to this piece— don’t cringe; I sometimes have the AI robot read me pieces so I can keep up with the writing I adore— on my own morning walk. I crossed paths with a woman named Connie and her 13-year-old dog Elliot, who she says is the antithesis of beagle despite his very beagle appearance. Yesterday, he befriended a rabbit. She’s applying to be a ferry mechanic and traveling to California for a crazy kayak race and healing from a meniscus tear. So, it was a conversation just as you describe; there kept being beats that I knew were not yet the end.

Oh, to know and be known by those creatures who share the planet with us, human and otherwise.
